Dr. Laura Keener spent 4 years in Athens, Georgia, to complete her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. She returned home to North Carolina and earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She worked as a student at a referral/emergency hospital and had such a great experience that she returned as a doctor. During her first year in practice, she became certified in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) and is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA). She spent 2 years in emergency medicine while practicing relief as a general practitioner and acupuncturist. While she enjoyed the thrill of emergency medicine, she missed the long-term connection with clients and their pets. She is transitioning to general practice and is happy to be the newest member of the Hanover Regional team! She is looking forward to becoming a lifelong partner and supporter for her patients and their parents. Dr. Keener loves getting to know her clients and their furry patients. She practices compassionate and comprehensive medicine. Her special interests include integrative medicine, critical care, neurology, and improving quality of life in geriatric patients. During her time off, she enjoys walks with her dogs and spending time with her family, including all her nieces and nephews! She is very excited to explore her new home in the Wilmington area.
